Prototyping I used a micro-computer with a GPS shield to track and publish a user location. The #tracker library enabled me to convert NEMA sentences into spatial coordinates, which were then passed through and output to a web app using Google API. Additionally, I wired a switch and LED that, when pressed, triggered an event that uses an API called Twilio to deliver a text message. I did this to simulate a caretaker or family member receiving an alert if a person wanders off outside of their geo-fence. Here's a video of the prototype.
